Medicare Rebates

Medicare provides a rebate of $52.95 per consultation for patients who have been referred to a Dietitian by their doctor on a Chronic Disease Management Plan (or Team Care Arrangement -TCA).  General Practitioners must develop the plan prior to the appointment for patients to be eligible for the rebate.  Medicare rebate available on the day.

Private Health Rebates

Most private health funds provide rebates for visits to Dietitians.  The rebate is variable and depends on the health insurance provider and the level of cover.  Patients should contact their health care provider to check their entitlements.

At least 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations or rescheduling of your appointments.  A cancellation fee of 50% of the fee may be charged for missed appointments or appointments which are cancelled or rescheduled with less than the minimum notice.  Cancellation fees exist to ensure all appointments times are kept available for clients who need them.

Jennifer Donnelly APD

MDiet, BAppSci (Lab Med), DipBus(FLM), GCert (Nutri)

Jennifer Donnelly is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with qualifications including a Master of Dietetics, Graduate Certificate of Human Nutrition from Deakin University, a Bachelor of Applied Science (Laboratory Medicine) and Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) at RMIT.

Jennifer’s Dietetic experience includes current clinical work within one of Melbourne’s major tertiary heathcare centres across multiple complex clinical areas. She has also worked in private rehabilitation and in the rural setting with experience covering acute, subacute, renal dialysis, oncology and aged care.  Her experience also extends into health promotion at the corporate and community levels.  Jennifer’s private practice work complements her current clinical work, allowing her to work with patients on a longer-term basis to achieve their nutrition-related goals which she finds highly rewarding.

With a background in Medical Science (work in research and diagnostics) and her work as a Dietitian, Jennifer enjoys challenging cases and the ability to apply her broad transferable skills and knowledge acquired from extensive work experience in both fields. As a type 1 diabetic on insulin pump therapy, Jennifer naturally has a personal interest combined with plenty of life and professional experience in troubleshooting the challenges one faces in implementing positive health change. Jennifer’s approach involves educating, motivating and supporting patients to implement realistic, practical and sustainable evidence-based strategies to achieve their nutrition and health related goals.

Her areas of practice include general dietary and nutrition advice, weight management (including VLED program/bariatric patients), diabetes (all types), various GI disorders (including IBS, IBD and coeliac) women’s health (including PCOS, pregnancy and pregnancy planning), cancer, renal disease including dialysis, gastric surgery, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, nutrient deficiencies, malnutrition amongst many more nutritional lifestyle and medical conditions.

Jennifer is a strong advocate for prioritising a healthy lifestyle as a key foundation to self-confidence, success and happiness.
