Results

Pathology and radiology test results are generally available within 3-5 days of the test being performed.  Some complex test results can take longer. Results are downloaded electronically to our doctors by our preferred pathology and imaging providers.  Attending other pathology or imaging providers can cause further delays.

To ensure your privacy and confidentiality we do not provide a telephone test results service. Reception staff do not have access to your clinical information and test results.

We prefer that you make a follow-up appointment to discuss test results with the ordering doctor. Taking time to discuss your test results during an appointment, even if these test results are normal, helps you gain a better understanding of your medical care.

Each of our doctors have their own preferred methods for notifying you of your test results. We also provide a secure web-based on-line results service called DCP Results. Please discuss this with your doctor at the time of consultation.

Urgent and clinically sensitive test results will be notified to you by your doctor as soon as is practically possible. If you urgently require test results it is advised you make an appointment with the ordering doctor.

DCP RESULTS

When your doctor orders a test, you can be registered for DCP Results. You need to consent to using this service. Please ensure your mobile number and DOB is correct when you check-in with reception staff and your doctor at the time of your consultation. Once registered, your test results can then be uploaded into a digitally encrypted, password protected site that can only be accessed by you with a PIN code. Your PIN code is valid for only 4 weeks and will be sent to your mobile phone via an automated SMS at the time your doctor checks your results and uploads them for viewing.

1. You must enter your DOB, mobile number and PIN code to access results.

2. Your test must be completed for results to be available for your doctor to upload online within 3-months of date of registration. If you tests are not completed within 3-months you cannot access DCP Results and you will need to make an appointment with your requesting doctor to discuss your test results.

3. PIN codes are only valid for 4-weeks. If your PIN code expires and you need to access your results you must make an appointment with your requesting doctor to obtain these results.

DCP Results will appear colour coded. Your doctor will check your results, and using clinical judgment, will decide which results need further action and follow-up. Your doctor may also write a comment or provide some basic instructions regarding your test results.

Below is a guide to the colour coding of your DCP Results:

GREEN:

This means your test result is normal or acceptable and does not require further action.

YELLOW:

This means your doctor has provided specific information or instructions to be followed regarding your test result but does not require you to make follow-up appointment unless requested.

BLUE:

This means your test results are abnormal and require a non-urgent follow-up appointment and discussion with your doctor. If you have not made an appointment within 1-2 weeks of receiving this test result you will be contacted by our medical centre requesting you make a review appointment. Reception staff do not have access to your clinical information and test results, nor are they advised what the doctor wishes to discuss with you.

RED:

This result is significantly abnormal. You are required to make an urgent appointment with your doctor. Urgent and clinically sensitive test results will be notified to you by your doctor as soon as is practically possible and may not be downloaded for you to access via DCP Results.

Please note that anytime a test is requested, it is the responsibility of both the requesting doctor and you as a patient to ensure that you receive your test results. Sometimes there may be a delay or server error in transmitting your results online via DCP Results. If you have enrolled in DCP Results and have not received your test results within 2 weeks please call the medical centre and leave a message with the reception staff for the requesting doctor or our nurse to contact you.

URGENT TEST RESULTS
Urgent and clinically sensitive test results will be notified to you by your doctor as soon as is practically possible. Other complex test results are available by arrangement with the ordering doctor. Each of our doctors have their own preferred methods for notifying these test results. If you urgently require test results it is advised to make an appointment with the ordering doctor.

CERVICAL SCREENING TEST (CST) RESULTS
These test results generally take 2-3 weeks. If you have not received your Cervical Screening Test (CST) result within this timeframe please contact your treating doctor. Abnormal Cervical Screen Test (CST) results will be discussed with you rather than given online via DCP Results.
